Pope John Paul II Awards
This is an International Award that is presented to students who complete three sections of the award. The first part involves undertaking voluntary work in their local community and the second part encompasses helping in their local church as part of the community of lay people. This can include becoming a Minister of the Eucharist or saying readings at Mass. Thirdly, participants must write a 2000 word essay reflecting on their religion and the meaning behind it.
Pottery
Pottery takes place on Wednesday afternoons for Transition Year students in the Pottery Room with Mr O'Connor. It gives students a time out from classes and sports to learn to create various objects and sculptures from clay. It can be used as Gaisce Personal Skill which allows many students to take part in the classes as well as completing one section of their Gaisce forms.
Steer Clear
Steer Clear is an optional driver theory course that we can do in TY. We are learning about the rules of the road, how cars work and to fix a problem if the need arises, as well as becoming aware of the practices of a cautious and riatious driver.
